RAW MILK HERD SHARES
AT YESTERYEAR FARM
What is a Herd Share?
North Carolina prohibits the sale of unpasteurized milk for human consumption except, of course, through a herd share agreement.
A herd share agreement allows you to purchase a share of a milking herd and each week collect your share of milk from your very own cow— either delivered to a weekly drop point or picked up on farm.
How does it work?
Our members pay a one time fee to purchase a share of the herd, yes you heard that right! You’ll own a cow— well, a percentage of one! Look at you cowgirl!
Then, you’ll pay a monthly amount for the care of your portion of the cow.
Whole Share
The one time cost for a whole share (equivalent to 1 gallon per week) is $30.00 with a reoccurring monthly fee of $67.00
Half Share
The one time cost for a half share (equivalent to a half gallon per week) is $15.00 with a reoccurring monthly fee of $33.50
You can choose to end your membership at any time. We’ll buy your share back!
Jar Kits
As a herd share member, you will purchase your jar/lid kit from us when you sign up.
Full shares require a set of four jars complete with BPA free, plastic lids for $20.00.
Each week, you will return two clean jars in exchange for two full jars of FRESH, cream topped milk.
Half shares require a set of two jars complete with BPA free, plastic lids for $10.00.
Each week, you will return two clean jars in exchange for two full jars of FRESH, cream topped milk
Chipped or cracked jars must be replaced as they can harbor unwanted bacteria.
Jars that are returned unwashed are subject to a pre-sanitize wash fee.
